The Book Club 2020 Selections

The Book Club Pick - January

We are starting of 2020 with a book to help us get organized and stay organized! I had purchased this book when in debuted and just hadn’t found the time to go through the guide. I’ve decided that it’s now time to tackle, The Home Edit: A guide to Organizing and Realizing Your House Goals by Clea Shearer and Joanna Teplin. These ladies bring A LOT of personality to and fun to organizing. They soon will have a show that will highlight their organizing skills in celebrities’ homes. Join me this January in reading this book. You and your home will be happy with the outcomes!

The Book Club Pick - February

The start of a new month means that there is another book to read! The book for February is one I have read several years ago and is still today one of my all time favorite books. One Thousand White Women: The Journals of May Dodd by Jim Fergus is a novel that takes place in the late 1800s. Pioneer women traveled to the west as part of the government program launched by Ulysses S. Grant. Join me in reading the book, and find out why these women headed west.

The Book Club Pick - March

Jeanine Cummings wrote a page turner! American Dirt tells the story of a woman and her son that are running from the cartel and are doing whatever it takes to make it safety to America. This story is one for everyone to read. This book will have you staying up late to read and putting off housework so that you can find out what happens to the main characters. This 2020 release is a favorite of mine!

The Book Club Pick - April

For the month of April, I selected a new book by one of my favorite authors, Isabel Allende. She has written several books over the years, and each one I have read has been full of detail and creativity. Isabel Allende has outdone herself once again by writing a histroical fiction piece, A Long Petal of the Sea. The book takes place at the end of the Spanish Civil War in Spain. The book follows characters as they flee the country and make their way to South America to start a new life.

The Book Club Pick - May

Join me during the month of May by reading, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman. The main character Eleanor is in her late twenties and has a quirky personality. She’s a social misfit and we are bound to love this character. Make a little time for you this month and get reading!

The Book Club Pick - June

Our book to read for the month is Untamed by Glennon Doyle. This book is all of the rage and is a great read for the modern feminist. This is a memoir that I hope you’ll join me in reading.

The Book Club Pick - July

For the month of July, the book selection is A Burning by Megha Majumdar. The book was just released in June of 2020. The book takes place in India, where three characters’ lives become intertwined through politics and tragedy. This is the debut novel by Majumdar.

The Book Club Pick - August

I’m in the mood for a thriller, something to keep me on my toes, so I chose Pretty Little Things by Janelle Brown. Two characters, living completely different lives, come together because of a scam. The book is said to be a page turner! Join me this month in reading this pick.

The Book Club Pick - September

Open Book by Jessica Simpson is our next book to read. Life is getting a bit busier, so I am going to listen to the book on Audible. Jessica Simpson does read her memoir and have heard it adds a lot to her story. The book is about 11 hours of listening. While that might seem like a lot, it’s about 35 minutes a day of listening to the book. Very doable for me and hope it works for your schedule. Jessica is said to put it all out there in the book. If you are at all curious about this book, read it or start listening!

The Book Club Pick - October

For the next month, join me in reading, Then She was Gone by Lisa Jewell. This is a story of a mother and the disappearance of her daughter. With the official start of fall, I thought a thriller would be a great choice for October.

The Book Club Pick - November

The Beauty in Breaking by Michele Harper is the November book selection. The book is a memoir of Michele’s life as an ER doctor. This is the author’s first book and is sure to gives us all the feels as we head into the holiday season.

The Book Club Pick - December

I’m pretty passionate about American farms and that has a lot to do with the selection for December! Sarah Frey has written The Growing Season in which she tells her story about how she saved her family farm and built a new life. I think this will be a great book to wrap up 2020 and the second year of the Book Club!
