If I Didn’t Have Spring Break Plans… This Is What I’d Do
Spring break doesn’t always look like a big trip.
There have been years where we had flights booked, bags packed, and a full itinerary… and then there have been years where we stayed home and just tried to make the week feel a little different.
And honestly?
Some of my favorite spring breaks have been the simple ones.
If I didn’t have plans this year, this is exactly how I’d approach it.
Take a Day Trip Somewhere Close
You don’t have to go far to feel like you got away.
Living in the desert, we’re lucky to be within driving distance of so many good spots. A quick trip to San Diego, Palm Springs, or Phoenix can completely change the pace of your day.
It doesn’t need to be overnight.
Just getting in the car, putting on a playlist, and going somewhere different can shift your whole mindset.
Sometimes the drive is half the fun.
Try a Restaurant You Never Go To
It’s easy to fall into the same routine — same places, same orders, same everything.
Spring break is a good excuse to mix it up.
Pick a restaurant you’ve been meaning to try. Go somewhere a little out of your normal rotation. Sit outside if the weather’s nice. Order something different than you usually would.
It doesn’t have to be fancy.
It just has to feel a little new.
Be Outside More Than Usual
This time of year is one of the best in the desert before it gets too hot, and it’s easy to forget how much better everything feels when you’re outside.
Morning walks, morning tea on the patio, sitting outside in the evening — it doesn’t have to be anything big.
Even just a little more time in the sun can change your whole mood.
If nothing else, this is the one thing I’d try to do every single day.
Have People Over (Keep It Simple)
You don’t need to plan a big event to make something feel special.
Some of the best nights are the easiest ones — a casual dinner outside, takeout on the patio, a few drinks, good conversation.
No pressure. No overthinking.
Just something that breaks up the normal routine and gives you something to look forward to.
Start One Thing From Your Bingo List
If you’ve been following along with my 2026 Bingo List, you know I’m trying to be more intentional about doing things instead of just thinking about them.
Spring break is actually the perfect time to start.
You don’t have to do everything — just pick one thing.
One activity. One place. One idea you’ve been putting off.
Sometimes all you need is a little extra time (and a reason) to finally do it.
It Doesn’t Have to Be a Big Trip
I think there’s this idea that if you’re not going somewhere for spring break, you’re missing out.
But I don’t think that’s true at all.
Some of the weeks I remember the most aren’t the big trips — they’re the ones where life just felt a little lighter, a little slower, and a little more fun than usual.
That’s really the goal.
Not to do more…
just to make things feel different.
Final Thought
If you have a trip planned, that’s amazing.
But if you don’t, this is your reminder that you can still create a really good week — just by changing a few small things.
Sometimes that’s all it takes.
