A Weekend Getaway - Scottsdale

I’m a girl who loves where I live but also enjoys getting away for the weekend and getting my “big city fix.”

With Scottsdale being just three hours away it makes it an easy getaway destination.

After college, I lived in Phoenix for a few years. I became familiar with the area and took advantage of all that the Valley of the Sun had to offer.

Fast forward 13 years and I make frequent trips to the Phoenix area. With great restaurants, concerts and sporting events the city always has something fun to do. It’s also a great benefit that friends and family still reside in the area so visiting is always enjoyable.

On our recent getaway to Scottsdale, we went with good family friends and soaked up the sun. We had a flexible schedule which worked out quite well when traveling with 8 kids.

Where to Stay

The Hotel Valley Ho is a mid-centery modern hotel. It is located in Scottsdale with a central location to nearby downtown Scottsdale. The hotel is great for adults and families. The hotel offers two pools, one more tranguil and the other more lively. If you visit during the warmer months, there is a pool party at the main pool with a DJ from 1:30 PM -5:00 PM.

The room service and ZuZu restaurant had tasty food that the kids and adults all enjoyed. The hotel restaurant is currently undergoing some renovations, but it is not noticable while dining.

Overall, the service and hospitality was wonderful during our stay. I would recommend staying at this hotel. Whether you are going with friends or your fmailiy, you’re bound to enjoy your stay.

Where to Eat

Staying at a hotel with good food is always convienant, especially when traveling with kids. On our recent getaway, we did venture out to Culinary Dropout. If you haven’t been to one of the Culinary Dropout locations, you need to go! Not only is the decor om point, but the food is outstanding and full of flavor. Everyone will find something they love on this menu!

What to do

I’m all about supporting our professional athetic teams, when we visit the Phoenix area. Baseball season is here and it’s always fun to catch a Diamondbacks game. You can’t go wrong with getting your Vitamin D and spending some time at the hotel pool.

I always like to share my recommendations of what to do and where to stay. Each trip calls for trying a new spot or two. While we definitely have our favorites, it’s always good to get out of our comfort zone and try something new.

What is your favorite restaurant or activity in Phoenix?
